PastPerfect Museum Software is a collection management system used by many museums and local historical societies in Wisconsin. WHO Content Providers that use PastPerfect can export data from the program and upload it to a hosted CONTENTdm collection. More information about PastPerfect is available on their website.

Nomenclature 3.0

Nomenclature 3.0 is a hierarchically organized list of terms used for the cataloging of museum objects It is the latest version of the museum collections classification system developed by Robert Chenhall in the 1970s and replaces the second edition, Revised Nomenclature, which was first published in 1988.  It is integrated into the latest version of PastPerfect. To order a copy from AltaMira Press, go to http://www.altamirapress.com.

The American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) has developed an online community to promote and assist with the use of the third edition of Nomenclature. The community is moderated by an ongoing Nomenclature Committee serving under the aegis of AASLH. Paul Bourcier, co-editor of Nomenclature 3.0 and chief curator at the Wisconsin Historical Society, is the committee chair. Use this site to learn about Nomenclature 3.0, to share news and ask advice, and to submit your own proposals for additions and changes for future editions.
